The idea behind the poster is that through these musicians’ music, hope can be inspired in troubled minds. This is illustrated through the neck of the banjo growing into a life-filled tree.

The GAID (Graphic And Interactive Design) Program at Tyler School of Art often features banners designed by students to mark its territory in the vast school building. My design of the “Designer’s Swiss Army Knife” speaks to the multi-tasking I found myself doing after beginning my design career at Tyler. The knife features essential tools of any design student’s trade: a Sharpie marker for sketching out ideas, a USB flash drive to tranfer files to print, an X-Acto blade for cutting out print pieces, and a corkscrew to relax after spending all week repeating the process. After the design was finalized, the department had the banners printed onto large canvas paper so that the can hang proudly for years to come.

This series of maps was inspired both by my semester in Italy, and the book Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. I used found photography as well as my own from my travels to illustrate a map based on the passage written about each fictional city.

The challenge of this project was to create a series of book covers that could make three unique subject matters stylistically feel at home together on the bookshelf. I chose to approach the problem by picking out two identifying symbols of each subject and create a kaleidoscopic image, tying the three covers together with similar color palettes.

The Ig Nobel Prizes award scientific research that makes people laugh, then makes them think. In this student project, I designed a rebranding, as well as the catalog below of some of their most notorious winners.

In this catalog, I explore some of the past winners of the Ig Nobel Prizes featuring images, and my own illustrated charts. With the subject matter being fun, I chose a colorful palette to represent the different categories of the Ig Nobel Prizes. The final printed piece was spiral-bound and featured 19 spreads.
